Dr. Brendon Ringwood, board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, is experienced in orthopedic, cardiovascular, oncologic, thoracic, abdominal, reconstructive and neurosurgery and have the necessary training and equipment to perform specialized procedures such as: - Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO)
- Internal Fracture Fixation with plates and screws or external Fixation using the IMEX-SK system
- Arthroscopy
- Liver and lung lobectomies
- Brain and spinal surgery
- Portosystemic shunt surgery using intra-operative Fuoroscopy and ameroid constrictors
- Skin Flaps
State-of-the-art equipment, such as a CT scan, provides them with invaluable images of joints or tissues prior to surgery. Access to the VEC's Board Certified Anesthesiologist, Dr. Glenn Pettifer, enables the surgeons to perform surgery in animals that require critical monitoring and support during the procedure. Dr. Ringwood is supported by a group of specialized registered veterinary technicians and support staff. The entire surgical team is concerned primarily with the comfort, safety and well-being of the patient. The VEC is a 24 hour, 7 day a week facility. All patients requiring hospitalization and ongoing care through the night, weekend or holidays are closely monitored and supervised by qualified veterinary clinicians and registered veterinary technical staff. The VEC staff maintains a high level of communication with the client as well as the referring veterinarian. Upon discharge from the hospital all medical records and recommendations associated with the case are promptly forwarded to the primary care clinician. Consultations with Dr. Ringwood are available via referral from a primary care veterinarian.
