Veterinary Internist

Allan NorrisAlan Norris, DVM
Diplomate, ACVIM

Dr. Norris graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1977. Following his graduation he remained at the OVC to complete an internship and a medical residency. He joined the faculty at the OVC in 1980 and remained in the department of small animal medicine through 1984. During this time Dr. Norris was a clinician, a teacher and was actively involved in research. The  American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine certified Dr. Norris in internal medicine in 1982. 

His special interests within internal medicine include hematopoietic disease, gastroenteroloy and oncology. Dr. Norris is still actively involved in research, although his main interest is clinical medicine. He has authored numerous book chapters and articles.

For the past 18 years, Dr. Norris has been involved in referral practice that was originally centered in Mississauga, but was serving much of southern Ontario. He joined the Veterinary Emergency Clinic/Referral Centre in 2000 as a staff internist where he accepts referrals in internal medicine.
Dr. Norris has watched referral medicine grow from its infancy to its current state. He is very enthusiastic about referral medicine and the concept of a 24-hr emergency clinic and critical care facility where his patients can receive the seamless fare that they require on a continuous and ongoing basis.


Doug MasonDoug Mason, DVM, DVSc
Diplomat ACVIM

Dr. Mason graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1994 and remained in private practice for the next 4 years, 3 of which were spent in emergency medicine. In 1998 Dr. Mason returned to the OVC to complete a residency in small animal internal medicine. In 2001 he completed his Doctor of Veterinary Science degree as well as becoming board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Following the completion of his residency Dr. Mason practiced as the staff internist at the Animal Emergency and Critical Care Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Mason joined the VEC in January of 2003 where he maintains a small animal internal medicine practice. His primary interests include endocrinology, gastroenterology, cardiology and oncology. Dr. Mason also has a keen interest in ultrasound (abdominal/cardiac/soft tissue etc.) and its applications.


DrKFKevin Finora DVM
Diplomat ACVIM

Dr. Finora received his DVM degree from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1999.  Upon graduating he went on to complete a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Michigan Veterinary Specialists.  An interest in internal medicine led Dr. Finora to the Animal Medical Center in New York City, where he completed back-to-back residencies in both internal medicine and oncology.

Dr. Finora is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.


DrDMDawn Martin, DVM, DVSc
Diplomate ACVIM

Dr. Martin received her DVM degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2002. Upon graduating she went on to complete a rotating internship in small animal medicine at the Ontario Veterinary College.

In 2006 Dr. Martin completed a residency in small animal internal medicine at OVC, as well earning her Doctor of Veterinary Science degree.

Dr. Martin is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.
