 Veterinary cardiology is a specialty service dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of heart and vascular disease. Small animals are affected with a variety of congenital and acquired heart diseases. Our service is designed to provide services focused on the diagnosis and management of both acute and chronic heart disease in dogs and cats.
The cardiology service at the VEC is run by a team of specially trained clinicians including a board certified veterinary cardiologist and registered veterinary technicians. State-of-the-art diagnostic equipment is utilized to assess each animal's condition and to monitor the response to therapy. Non-invasive techniques such as those listed below provide us with information on the pet's cardiovascular status. - Ultrasound
- Doppler/Echocardiogram
- Electrocardiogram (EKG)
- Holter Monitor & Readings
- Radiographs
C.E.R.F. exams for OFA certification are also performed on the premises. The VEC cardiology team members are dedicated to providing top-quality cardiac care to our patients. The VEC is a 24 hour, 7 day a week facility. All patients requiring hospitalization will be closely monitored throughout the day and night by qualified veterinary clinicians and registered veterinary technical staff. The comfort, safety and well being of the patient is their primary concern. The VEC staff maintains a high level of communication with the client as well as the referring veterinarian. Upon discharge from the hospital all medical records and recommendations associated with the case are promptly forwarded to the primary care clinician. Consultations with Drs. William are available via referral from a primary care veterinarian.
